2010 marked Makro’s fifth time as a Eurogastro exhibitor. This was when Makro organised a major launch of their own brands– Horeca Select and H-Line: food and industrial goods for caterers, and an industrial product line for hotels and restaurants.

It was then decided for the first time that product displays would walk away from typical Makro facility exhibitions. White varnished platforms with subtle blue lighting were designed to support Horeca Select products. H-Line products were displayed on restaurant tables. Appropriately themed photographs were hung above individual platforms.

The stand area was diagonally divided into four parts. A Makro reception and gate were placed at one end of the diagonal, with a Makro tower sitting in the middle of the intersection. Upon passing the tower, guests were invited through to the restaurant with a wine cellar, with a separate VIP Room organised for VIPs. A cooking class stage was set up to the left of the tower, with an H-Line breakfast stand to the right and Rioba Cafe in the background.

The exhibition day began with a coffee brewing training session, upon which chefs held a desserts class; baristas gave lessons on how to use espresso as a basis for popular coffee drinks. Master chefs taught their students the fine art of preparing top quality Argentine beef and barramundi dishes.

  Chef and barista stations were fitted with state-of-the-art catering devices, enabling professionals to organise platinum standard cooking classes. For viewing comfort, all shows were beamed onto large-screen displays placed above the stage, in the VIP Room, and in the reception area. A professional sound system ensured perfect audio reception in the viewing area without affecting other zones.

In the Exhibition zone, visitors could actually encounter all products used by professionals during shows: from spices to fresh fish, from crockery to coffee. Industrial H-Line products for hotels and restaurants were exposed in their natural surroundings.

Makro customers brought in by coach from throughout Poland were welcomed in a restaurant room with seating for eighty. The kitchen prepared approximately four hundred three-course meals per day.

All these complicated activities required a fully equipped backstage and technical support section, placed behind the exhibition space.

The Makro 2010 stand design was hugely appreciated, as proven by the multiple use of the Rioba bar at a number of functions and events that year, as described under the Coffee, Coffee Machines, Accessories project.
