Makro Centrum Horeca
Area: 260 m2
Designed by: Tatjana Kobuszewska
Developed by: Trakon sp. z o.o. and TRK System’s co-operating partners
The Horeca Makro Centre no longer exists at the location: the project proved so successful that it required an area several times larger to continue operating. This resulted in the creation of the Effective Business Academy.
The first Horeca Centre was as unique a project as the Academy. A single room housed a model restaurant kitchen, model bar, wine cellar with a tasting area, and a display of industrial and food products for the HoReCa (Hotels • Restaurants • Catering) sector. Only the scullery, office, and bathroom were organised as separate spaces, as required by legal provisions.

The kitchen was the main stage for action. This was where new recipes were invented, new products and devices tested, and training courses held for Makro clients from throughout Poland. This is where the Chefs (Szefowie Kuchni) TV programme was filmed for the Kuchnia+ channel. Here was also where the Management Tem were proud to invite guests from all over Europe.
Each and every detail was to prove that the Centre was part of Makro, that everything on display could be purchased at Makro facilities. Such message was to reach clients from all corners of Poland, which is why simple forms and materials were used.
For example, wine cellar shelving systems were identical to those available at Makro outlets. The bar countertop, chairs, and tables were all arranged to match. Product display shelves were delivered by the company delivering shelves to Makro warehouses. Industrial lighting was used for shelving system illumination purposes. Only a few ornamental lighting case types were used to soften the austere interior a little.
Over the three years of operation, the interior was highly praised and appreciated on numerous occasions, as proven by the fact that a number of furnishing samples were transferred to or copied at the current Horeca Centre of the Academy.
